This  Insurance company  has a total branch network of three, located in Abuja, Port Harcourt and Ibadan and also leveraging on over 700 branches of FirstBank Nigeria Limited.

They are recruiting to fill the position below:

 Job Title: Head Technical & Broking Services (HTBS)
Location: Lagos

  • Provide strategic leadership for the FBNIB in assessing client risk, supporting Business Development team in placing insurance policies with reputable insurance companies. Also, HTS will provide risk management solution to our clients’ needs by monitoring market trends/development

Reporting Relationship:

  • Reports to: MD/CEO
  • Supervises:
    • Technical Coordinator
    • Technical Analyst x 2
    • Technical Support.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Number of sanctions received on contravention of NAICOM regulations
  • No of delays in bid submission
  • No of complaints from reinsurance activities.
  • No of complaints from BUPA customers.
  • Timely completion of the renewal process of First Bank and other Subcos assets.
  • No of defaults in updating of Underwriters’ security list
  • No. of bids/proposals submitted on a monthly/quarterly/annual.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and manage strategies for the technical department
  • Research, assess and implement local and international best practices in Technical Broking operations
  • Monitor industry, market statistics and competitor trends in order to ensure strategic plans on market share are achieved.
  • Preparation of proposals for new business
  • Review of terms of existing accounts
  • Review and verification of all policy documents issued by insurers for correctness and adequacy of cover.
  • Negotiating and obtaining competitive premium rates for clients and placement of business with insurance companies
  • Supervises activities of Credit Risk at First Bank/FINCON
  • Supervises and supports claims administration and reinsurance activities
  • Identifies and optimize direct marketing opportunities
  • Oversees and supports BUPA account management
  • Enforce health, safety and other facility regulations
  • Performs any other assigned duties as determined by the MD/CEO

Specification / Qualifications:

  • A First Degree in any of the Social / Management Sciences preferably Insurance. An advanced degree in MBA will be an advantage
  • Minimum of 8 years cumulative experience in Insurance Technical Operations, with 2 years in a senior role
  • Certified membership of CIIN is a MUST!
  • Experience in the Brokerage Industry is a MUST!
